Artist Statement:
I am a graduating Senior majoring in Painting with an Art History minor. My specialty is Oil Painting and take great inspiration from the Old Masters of painting and those of Impressionism, Neoclassicism, Baroque and anything of the realist nature, especially of figure. My drive to paint comes from the feeling of awe I get when I come across a painting that is masterfully done from contemporary all the way to Michelangelo. Masterful paintings to me consist of a master's understanding of composition; how light, line, color and shape can be invented to convey anything the painter wishes the audience to perceive from it.
My efforts in painting will always be reaching for the goal of having my paintings stand at the same level as those I aspire to, as I am constantly looking at my work for improvements, with what's working and what isn't, no matter the stage it's in. I get the most reward from pieces that I've dedicated to the correlation between research and composition, where the subject requires planning and painting requires deep thought. The end result that I always strive for is something that I'm proud of because I know I've meticulously planned, worked on, adjusted and readjusted to the point that I couldn't feel anything less than pride from it.
